In December 2023, the Irish State announced it was no longer in a position to offer accommodation to all International Protection Applicants (IPAs). If you have been refused accommodation, please email ipasinbox@justice.ie to find out what supports may be available.
If you have been offered accommodation, this will be provided by the International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS). IPAS contract private entities to provide International Protection Applicants with food and shelter.
When seeking protection in Ireland you may stay in several different types of accommodation: Emergency Accommodation, including Tented Facilities; the Balseskin National Reception Centre; Citywest Transit Hub; Direct Provision centres (longer term accommodation with the sole function of accommodating International Protection Applicants), and/ or own door accommodation. If you are transferred to a Direct Provision centre, please see the booklets below, which offer some information about local services and supports.
If you have concerns about your current accommodation or an upcoming transfer, please contact IPAS at ipasinbox@justice.ie.
